Wine Shop Price Night
To celebrate our new online wine shop launch Phil Crozier, our director of wine, highlights three of his all-time favourites from Argentina. Enjoy these and other selected wines on our Monday Wine shop Price Night at retail prices.
‘Dos Rubios’ Syrah
Made by myself and Laura Ciacera, owner of bodegas La Guarda in San Juan. This is from the top region in this region, Perdernal, which is at 1400m above sea level. Cool and stony, this region gives tonnes of fruit and minerality, responsible for the more complex wines from San Juan. Coffee, mocha and sweet spice, this wine is ageing very gracefully.
Trapiche ‘Las Piedras’ Malbec
From a single vineyard in Los Arboles, to the east of Gualtallary. This area is very stony, as you would expect from the name. This is a complex and lean Malbec, very much in the new style from Argentina. Lots of herbs and red fruits on the nose, with a deep vein of minerality running through the aroma. Lean and fresh on the palate, very concentrated and complex in the mouth. This wine is now 6 years old and drinking beautifully.
Flichmann ‘Parcela 26’ Malbec
The final sign off after 10 years of working in the Uco Valley on new vines and new terroirs for Finca Flichmann. When this wine was released, it was a big deal. With a big price to match. It is the most expensive Malbec I have come across. Limited to just 2200 bottles, we have the entire UK allocation. Violets, plums, tobacco and cedar, with extraordinary complexity and depth. A wine to savour with very good friends.
