To celebrate our new online wine shop launch Phil Crozier, our director of wine, highlights three of his all-time favourites from Argentina. Enjoy these and other selected wines on our Monday Wine shop Price Night at retail prices.

Passionate Wines ‘Malbon’
New school. Old techniques, and a radical winemaker. These guys started out with this wine, and the whole thing was clearly done on a shoestring. The wine bottle is a champagne bottle. But the wine is sensational. I have been following the evolution of this wine in barrel when on my many visits over the 24 months in oak. The Bonarda has been co fermented with Malbec, and is rich, concentrated, intense and one of my all – time favourite wines. Full of energy and complexity.

Riglos Gran Cabernet Franc
Pulqui Rodriguez is a highly eccentric man who writes poetry in chemical equations. He is a fanatically exact winemaker. He likes to use oak, but his wines always show the fruit. This is a complex wine, with rich vanilla and black fruits on the nose, and is made in a more full -bodied style. Rich and full in the mouth, this will appeal to lovers of Californian wines. Gen Del Alma ‘Otra Piel’
Andrea Muffato is the wife of Geraldo Michelini, one of the other brothers in the Michelini family. They both work together on these wines, featuring some very unusual blends. This one is no exception, with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot noir. This is clearly a modern classic, with loads of acidity and nervous energy. Clean and fresh on the nose, with green pepper, black cassis and raspberry notes. Sour cherry completes a long finish.
