Most Rose is the result of a ‘bleed’ during cold maceration of the grapes before fermentation. This is not. The skins of the Malbec are removed whilst undergoing maceration and the wine is then fermented in the way of a white wine. Wonderfully aromatic, with strawberries, raspberries and red currant on the nose this wine is full of enough energy. Fresh and wild on the palate, with serious acidity and length, complete with a touch of sweetness.
Lying further to the West, and within the department of Tupungato, Gualtallary is one of the most talked about regions in Argentina. Home to some of the best winemakers, and best vineyards in Mendoza combine to make some of the best quality, modern, tense and complex wines currently setting the world alight for Argentina. Cabernet Franc is terrific here, as is Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay is at its best. Mineral, alluvial soils with pockets of chalk, combined with altitudes from 1250-1600m above sea level makes this one of ‘THE’ places to look for now and in the future.
Colour of this rose is beautiful and it is very clean and fresh on the nose with red currants and a touch of spice. Mouthfeel is very intense and pure with a fresh finish. Very sophisticated.
