This Chardonnay is made without oak. Lots of stone fruit, with a core of minerality, this shows the purity of both Chardonnay and the stony soils of Tupungato. Rich on the palate but without the buttery character. No malolactic fermentation, very fresh.
A 45 minute drive from Lujan de Cuyo, turning left onto the famous ‘Picada’ road which takes you over the pre-Cordillera and drops you down into the beautiful Uco Valley. This valley is divided into 3 regions, with many Sub regions. Tupungato is the most Northerly sub region of Uco Valley and is cool and high in altitude, with the highest vineyards in Mendoza. Great for white wines, especially Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, but also red cool climate grapes, especially Cabernet Franc and Malbec, with Cabernet Sauvignon defying those critics that say it is too cold for this varietal. The wines from here tend to be fresh, high in acidity and laden with red and black fruits. An outstanding area, with mostly alluvial soils and a lot of variation between micro-regions.
Made with Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Torrontés from soils which contain high levels of calcium carbonates. This gives the blend real minerality and finesse.
